Cash flow modelling, year by year, on one client record.
fp one projects the client's position today and the recommended one, year by year, under Australian tax, super and Age Pension rules. The same modelling feeds the advice document and the client portal.
What cash flow modelling covers in fp one.
Cash flow modelling shows what a client's money is likely to do over time: income, spending, tax, contributions, drawdowns and the balances they leave behind. In fp one it runs on the client record, so the fact-find, the strategy and the advice read the same figures.
One engine models the whole household: couples, trusts, companies and SMSFs with their own tax, property and debt, pensions and the Age Pension. Living expenses can come from the Smart Budget, which reads the client's bank statements and sorts the spending into categories.
The calculations are done by code, not AI, so the same inputs give the same answer. The tax, super and Age Pension rules are checked against 595 examples worked out by hand from the legislation.
How the modelling works, on one client record.
Current against recommended
Each year shows today's path beside the recommended one. Alternative strategies can be compared side by side, with the impact of advice on tax, interest and cover costs.
A plan for the surplus
Choose where each year's surplus goes, in dollars or as a share, for the years you set, and fill super to the cap. When a year runs short, accounts are drawn in a set order and an unfunded year is flagged.
Stress tested
Add up to two market downturn years, the first set by default to the investor profile's worst one-year loss, and run a Monte Carlo simulation to see a range of outcomes rather than one line.
Shown to the client
Present mode puts full-screen charts in front of the client in a meeting. Modelling you publish appears in their client portal, and the SoA prints the same projection.
What stays with the adviser.
The engine does the arithmetic; the adviser sets the strategy. You choose the scenarios, the practice's key assumptions and which alternative becomes the recommendation. Statutory figures such as tax scales and super caps are held by financial year, and product fees kept current by fp one council flow into the projections.
Who it suits.
Advisers modelling retirement, super contribution, debt and structure strategies for Australian clients, including households with trusts, companies or SMSFs, who want the modelling and the advice document to agree without re-keying. It is designed to keep one set of figures from the first meeting to the review.
Questions advisers ask.
Is AI used for the calculations?
No. The modelling is deterministic code, so the same inputs give the same answer. AI is used for drafting text, not for the maths.
Does it model trusts, companies and SMSFs?
Yes, each with its own tax. Trusts and SMSFs are linked back to the household's projection, including distributions, member balances and pension payments.
What happens if the money runs out?
The charts stop at the year liquid assets run out, and the year-by-year tables keep going, so the shortfall stays in view.
Are there quick calculators too?
Yes. Calculators cover a home purchase, income tax and HELP, Child Care Subsidy, a novated lease, buy versus rent, property versus shares and sequencing risk, with printable client handouts.
